Juniors playing in Junior and Adult Club Matches
Who is responsible for transporting Juniors to and from a match?
Generally, parents of children playing in any Club matches (home or away or Adult or Junior) should complete a Consent and Emergency Contact Form (available in the clubhouse, on the Club's website in the Documents section or below - see link) and return it to the Team Captain before the match.
Coaches and volunteers are not responsible for transporting children to and from the match, unless as part of a club organised trip (see below). It is reasonable of the Club and Match Captains to place responsibility on parents for ensuring appropriate transport arrangements are made for their children.
Parents may choose to make private arrangements with another adult (such as a family friend but not a Club Member playing in the match) to transport their child. However, parents should let the Club know. Click for the Consent And Emergency Contact Form for Juniors under eighteen (18) years of age playing for Peppard Lawn Tennis Club.
What happens in situations when the Club needs to transport children?
Juniors under the age of 14 years are not able to play in Adult matches as per the LTA league rules. In situations where the Club agrees to arrange transport for children (for example, to an away Junior match) the responsible adult or Adult Team Captain must ensure the following:
- Parents are informed of the destination, reason for the journey and the name of the driver.
- Parents return to the Club a Consent and Emergency Contact Form and the driver should have a copy of this with them on the journey in case of emergencies.
- There are two adults in the car.
- Children are seated in the back of the vehicle at all times.
- If the children are a mixture of female and male, where possible the two adults should also be male and female.
- There is an established procedure in the event of a breakdown and / or emergency.
- The driver has a valid UK driving licence, a satisfactory DBS check, correct insurance and MOT certificate, and complies with laws on the use of seatbelts and restraints.
- The Club’s Welfare Officer maintains a record of drivers that currently meet these requirements.
